Gary Carter Sr.,68, of Oswego, passed away peacefully, at home, on July 3 surrounded by family that loved him dearly.

He was born in the rural town of Springfield, Tennessee to parents Sam Carter Jr. and Thelma Armstrong.  He was raised in Adams, Tennessee by his loving parents with his siblings.

As an adult, he was a career over the road driver. He spent 40 years doing the job he loved the most.

He had four loves in this life, his dear wife Peggy Carter, his children, classic cars, and John Wayne movies.

He is proceeded in death by his father Sam and his wife Peggy.

He is survived by mother: Thelma Wray of North Carolina; children: Gary Jr. of Tennessee, Nathan and daughter in law Christina Westberry of Oswego, Gina of Alabama; brothers: Boyd of Tennessee, William of Georgia,  Dan of texas; sisters: Ann of North Carolina, Vicky of Tennessee; nephews: James Chris Childress of Florida, Sam Carter of Tennessee,  Shane Carter of Tennessee; grandchildren: jasmine (TN) Christian (KY) Edward (KY) Samarah, Zachariah, Ethyn and Emma (NY).
