Mary E. Baratier, 81, of Oswego, passed away on August 12, 2025, in Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, New York, she was the daughter of the late Paul L. and Louise S. (Cavanaugh) Baratier.

Mary received a Masters degree in nursing and anesthesiology from Duke University. She also taught anesthesiology at Webster University in St. Louis, MO. Mary worked as a nurse anesthetist at Cobleskill Hospital. She was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War and Persian Gulf. Mary also served on the U.S. Navy Hospital ship "Mercy".

Mary loved to travel, read, and meet new people. She also enjoyed making stained glass.

We would like to recognize special nieces and nephews along with a special friend who provided constant and compassionate care throughout her illness: Renee Baratier & Art Hicks, Kemp & Darlene Baratier, Douglas Baratier & Karen Marsden, and Joanne Johnson.

Mary also leaves behind her brother Paul L. Baratier Jr., several nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

In addition to her parents Mary is preceded in death by her brothers Ronald L. Baratier, and Nelson I. Baratier, and sisters Helen Ouderkirk, and Colleen B. Rought.

A graveside service will be held on Monday August 18, 2025 at 11 A.M. at Pleasant Lawn Cemetery in Parish, NY with full Military Honors.
