Patricia O. Hanley of Oswego, passed away peacefully at the age of 101, in the arms of her loving family on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.

Born in New Rochelle, NY, she was the daughter of the late Michael F. and Mary Elizabeth O'Connell Otis and stepmother Maria Leavy Otis.

Patricia was a beloved teacher for the Oswego City School District for more than 20 years.  She taught and touched many lives at Charles E. Riley Elementary School from 1965-1986. Prior to her years as a teacher in Oswego, she taught briefly in a one-room schoolhouse, and later in the Rochester City School District.

Patricia was a loving wife, mother of three, grandmother of eleven, and great-grandmother of thirteen.  She treasured her time with her family and never failed to make them her number one priority. Wonderfully energetic and outgoing,  Patricia loved music and was an avid reader.  She also enjoyed her many travels, especially her trips to Ireland to visit relatives, as she was the daughter of Irish immigrants. However, it was her faith in God that truly defined who she was, and she was adored by her family and friends alike.

Patricia is survived by her children Ted Hanley of Galveston Texas, Vincent O. Hanley (Casey)of Clarence NY, and Mary Elizabeth Collins (Michael) of Oswego, her grandchildren Patrick, Maura, Elizabeth, Angela, Edward, Kathleen, Maureen, Michael, John, and Bridget, as well as 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and stepmother, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward E. Hanley, her grandson Teddy Collins, and her siblings Elizabeth, John, Vincent, and Emmet Otis.

Family and friends are invited to call from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street, Oswego. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 10, 2024, at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish and Shrine, 103 West Seventh Street, Oswego. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
